Recently, I operated on a 50-year-old man with diabetes who had lost vision in both eyes from severe bleeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With vitrectomy and laser treatment, his sight improved to 9\/10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But many patients don\u2019t make it in time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Diabetes steals vision silently\u2014 and by the time they reach us, it\u2019s often too late.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is the leading cause of blindness in the working-age population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And much of it is preventable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
